The project is a response to a brief made by The International Society of Typographic Designers about doing a typographic project about everything about one thing.
My response to this brief is to do a project about “Bit-Rot” aka Data Decay with the starting point in a project about Floppy disks.
Bit-Rot is something most people don’t know about, but in a digital age this is a really interesting topic, since most people are not aware that digital media don’t last as long as one think.
How can we read Facebook in 2246? If we don’t store electronic information securely.
The format is based on the 8-inch floppy disk with the main body copy from the short stories by Jorge Luise Borges The Library of Babel, that is a short stories about a library, information and storage.
I illustrated the copy with making it corrupted with information on the backside that informs people about data decay.
