The Lord has always had a remnant, they were his, a “devoted ” one unto the Lord! Once devoted, it is always so! Once taken back, it brings a curse! When anything was "devoted" unto the LORD in the Torah, whatever it was; whether of man or beast; or even his fields; it was a "Devoted thing". The Word here is 'cherem', meaning something cut off, or shut up. It was known as "banning", falling under the "vow of Banning." This meant if you "Devoted a thing" to the LORD, it was banned from any other use.
In our Remnant study tonight, we begin here to understand the true biblical separation and meaning of a "Devoted thing", something that is "sanctified" in the context of the Torah. We find the true biblical boundaries and meaning in this study of what it truly means to be the "Remnant". As such, we are a "devoted thing" unto the Lord. We are not our own, we are bought with a price. The same concept here is the same concept found in the 'Vow of Banning.'
