Over the course of 2013 I had the pleasure of shooting a few ad campaigns for Febreze. These shoots were really fun and different from the norm. Usually I design a look for a commercial, put in a lighting order, review story boards, plan a shot list, etc… However, these were hidden camera/run and gun style spots with unsuspecting people so there was very little lighting and everything happened in real time. When you take this approach, anything can happen and you don’t know what you are going to get so you have to shoot a lot of them to make sure you get a few good ones in the can. We shot about 10-12 people per day so the pace was hyper-speed. Shooting at the speed of life, driving around town, hopping out of cars, and knocking on unsuspecting people’s doors gave us all a big adrenalin rush and put smiles on everyone’s faces. Now that doesn’t stink!
