What began as a quick lip-sync competition between colleagues during a working lull, became much more drawn out. I don't even know where the audio clip came from. (anybody?) While working on it, I got gradually more inspired to embellish on the character's facial readability.
My old animation instructor once said that every change in a facial expression represents a new thought crossing his or her mind. While this might seem like a "duh," the potential for creating parallel narratives; one verbal, one not, morphs it into more of an "aha!" One ought to be able to easily read a face over time like any other dialogue.
