AAMC Awards - Karen Szauter, MD, MACP

Karen Szauter, MD, MACP, assistant dean of educational affairs at the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) John Sealy School of Medicine, has emphasized creative teaching and assessment approaches to clinical training, mentoring up to 20 students per year on abstract writing and poster preparation. As co-director of the three-year internal medicine clerkship for the past 15 years, she has introduced new opportunities to support student learning and skills building to help ease students’ transition into residency.
