Opportunity, skills and local solutions
“When we find great problems we must work to find local solutions.” — BIZIMANA Jean Bosco
Working as a Lab Technician compiling information on malnutrition in Rwanda gave BIZIMANA Bosco a first-hand look into a problem that was affecting his community.
“I used to think about how to find a local solution for malnutrition and how I could implement it if I had the chance.”
After returning to school at INATEK (Institute of Agriculture, Technology and Education of Kibungo) Bosco applied for the HANGUMURIMO grant funded by MINECOFIN (Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning). The curriculum for Bosco’s education at INATEK incorporated Akazi Kanoze’s Work Readiness and Entrepreneurship Programs which combined to provide him with the knowledge to win the award, and the skills to ensure that it would be implemented as efficiently and effectively as possible.
The RWF 27 million award gave Bosco the funding to set-up “PANOVITA Company Ltd.” which produces two types of nutritious porridge and flour using locally sourced grains from Rwanda’s Eastern Province and sold throughout Rwanda.
Bosco’s vision and determination supported by INATEK and AKAZI KANOZE have given him the chance to realize his dream and address malnutrition in his community with a local and sustainable solution.
