The resolution frontier of Google Los Angeles stretches from the shores of the Pacific Palisades, across the San Fernando Valley, into the San Gabriel Valley and returns to the Pacific Ocean in the city of Newport Beach. The Photogrammetric Urban Glaciation Event went live in Google Earth in mid-2013, wiping out thousands of handmade digital models and eliminating the pipeline that had previously empowered the Army of Hobbyists to contribute their models to the ubiquitious Earth browser.
