I'm not certain yet if this is still going on, but there's been a huge debate throughout the Blender community on whether or not to use the right-mouse button inside of Blender. Some opinions are good, some are bad, some are well informed, and some do not make any sense. One of the basic reasons why right-mouse button should not be used in Blender is because unlike many other programs like Microsoft Word, or Sony Vegas, or 3D applications like 3D Studio Max, or Maya, the right-mouse button isn't the standard for selections. In this video, I explain why it's a good idea to use the left-mouse button for actions and the right-button for selections in Blender, plus a whole lot more. Hope this video is informative and hope that you've learned something from it.
