This film is giving an idea and tries to leave some spirit of my time, moments of my sight, my eyes.
My feelings and my fears. Fragments of a historic period, PATCHES OF PROTEST in photography and film, audio and text.
Taksim and Gezi-Park. My sister doing an "Erasmus-year" in Istanbul -me visiting her. Actually just a five-day-trip, touristic stuff, the black sea, the Istanbul modern. Meeting point to pic me up: Galatta-Tower close to Taksim. Day of arrival: friday 31st of mai 2013. – that day the protest at the Gezi-park started growing suddenly. My general luggage: backpack including my camera and an audio-recorder. The result: skip the trip. 10 days of protests. Me not having any creative concept, photographing, filming, recording interviews. Trying to get the situation, learning as much as possible about all that happening. Staying close to barricades and burning cars. Talking to masked violents, running away from massive gas-attacs. Sleeping the first night together with my sister on a park-bench (my backpack below the bench) at the Bosphorus because the public transport has been skipped. Two sides of all. Violence and fear. – Peacefull protesters from every age, picnicking in the occupied park, dancing in the camp.
Tasting that spirit.
There is still more material need to be cut. I want to give those interview-partners each a single Clip, give them time to tell everything. In total it is going to become a series of views on the gezi-Movement. To be continued.
Thanks to my sister Sunna, Ulrike Isenberg and Uwe H. Martin for supporting me!
