2014 marks the 24th annual National Girls and Women in Sports Day (NGWSD) Celebration at the University at Buffalo. The Division of Athletics has planned numerous activities designed to educate the campus and surrounding communities on the importance of female participation in sports and the impact that Title IX has had on female athletic opportunities all over the United States. Our theme is “Passing the Torch, Blazing the Trail.” Our programs include a Multi-Sport Clinic for girls in grades 4 – 8, Women in Sports Symposium and Title IX School Visits to local elementary schools. The University at Buffalo will host its second annual Women in Sports Symposium in celebration of National Girls and Women in Sports Day. The Symposium is geared to educate, empower and inspire women in sports and sport related fields and targets coaches from all levels, administrators, athletic staff, and graduate students interested in careers in athletics. Men are encouraged to attend. The Symposium includes a keynote address by UCLA softball legend Sue Enquist.
