My name's Jack Freeman. I'm a weed off the Mornington Peninsula. I live to surf and play music. My song's about my escapes in life such as surfing and music and the sense of meaning and solitude they give me.
Blaktraks is is a youth arts program run by Storyscape and the Koorie Heritage Trust. The program a few days a week over a month, and encompasses storytelling, music, painting/stencil art, photography, and video production. The idea is that participants, through these various art forms, develop a story about themselves, exploring who they are/ their own identity. These stories are developed into songs/music and short films which are then performed/screened at an event. The aim is to improve confidence and skills, and provide employment pathways. Participants also work towards a Certificate III in Arts Administration. Blaktraks is supported by VicHealth and has been running annually since 2011.
