This video was made In conjunction with the publication of my most recent novel "Chrysis" in Paris in May of 2013. My French publisher (Le Cherche-Midi) and I organized an art exhibit at the Museum of Montparnasse (May 15-June 1, 2013) to display the paintings of Chrysis Jungbluth, the protagonist of the novel, and an actual French woman artist of the 1920s. "Chrysis" was published in the U.S. in Nov. of 2013 with the title "The Memory of Love." Both the French and American editions are available on amazon.com, amazon.uk, and amazon.fr as well as at independent bookstores.
In the course of my research for the novel, I collected all of the paintings hanging in this show, as well as the photographs of Chrysis and her family, which are also seen in this video. The novel itself was inspired by a very personal chain of events in my own life, and both the exhibit and the video were labors of love, unpaid, and undertaken simply to honor and bring back to public exposure the work of a very talented and largely forgotten young painter during that incredibly vibrant era in the Paris art world. The opening was a grand success, very well attended, and a fine time had by all. I hope you enjoy this little video. Thank you.
