The WorldWide Telescope was built to leverage the power and immersion of traditional rich media forms such as film and video while breaking the traditional constraints of such media to enable much richer interactivity to facilitate learning. This talk will describe the ideas and information architecture behind the Visual Experience Engine which powers the WorldWide Telescope and demonstrate a new approach to creating compelling, highly interactive rich media user generated experiences that have inspired millions of people around the world to explore the Universe.
