In the cultural and artistic sphere, the exhibition curator often remains unjustly in the background, especially from the point of view of the consumers themselves. Visitors, fascinated by the beauty of an exhibition and totally moved by what they have seen, leave the museum or gallery without knowing who the person was who enabled them to enjoy such a moving experience. Fortunately, there are always exceptions. The majestic “Universal Archive” exhibition, which was recently held at MACBA and will soon be on display in Lisbon, ensured that the name of Jorge Ribalta did not pass by unnoticed. The outcome of an extensive, in-depth period of documentation and research, the photographer explains how he managed to bring together the thousands of photographs making up the project and where it all started from.
