Day Six, and over to the Green Bank Observatory. No radio, and no cell phones around here as it's a radio dead-zone to protect the Green Bank radio telescopes from interference. It's a huge complex tucked down into a mountain valley, far from anything resembling "city life". Impressive!
Back to Cass, we start down the Greenbriar River Trail toward Marlinton. This well developed and popular trail winds along with the serpentine Greenbriar River and when necessary, tunnels into mountainsides to straighten the route for the trains that used to run here. Camping is allowed along the route and there are plenty of places to access the river or pull over for a picnic.
