Marcelo is a 38-year old fisherman who lives in a remote village off the coast of Brazil. He is a Caiçara, or a "man of the sea," who fishes and builds canoes in the ways of his ancestors. It's a beautiful, simple lifestyle...and it's disappearing. A governmental push for development, growth in tourism, and plunging fish populations have driven most caiçara communities away from the sea and towards easier money on land. But Marcelo carries on - seeking to prove the valor of an ancient way of life in a modern world:
"I may not have a lot of money, but I'm a very rich man."
This film aims to show why he's so right.
