We made the test/comparison of the GoPro Hero 3+ (Black Edition) vs Garmin Virb.
Every dad needs a good action cam. We made the test. Both cameras filmed at 1080 @30fps. No post editing was done.
I personally think the GoPro Hero 3+ has a better image quality than the Garmin Virb. Since this is Garmin's first cam I have to say they did a really good job. The iPhone/Android application is nearly as easy to use as the GoPro app. Also the Virb has some unique features, like altitude measurement, speed, heart rate ect. Everything the normal Garmin devices offer. It comes with an own editing software, which is quite good as well. The downside of the Virb is, that it's quite clunky and heavy. On the other side the prize is fairly reasonable and cheaper than the GoPro Hero. Quality/prize ratio is really good. If I'd have to choose I would buy the Virb for actives where data is crucial and you can mount it on something other than yourself e.g. Bike-rides, car, motorcycle stuff. If you want to put it on your helmet while skiing, you might want to buy a neck brace with it.
