A quick overview of a Willow Spiling Project on the River Cover a few years back.
Willow Spiling is a common 'Green Engineering' river restoration technique used to protect and enhance eroding river banks. Willow is weaved around fence post driven into the toe of the bank. When the Willow grows its root mass stabilise the banks and trap sediment. These structures are also great for juvenile fish cover and habitat for terrestrial insects.
