Transitioning to Cradle Mountain, Tasmania, the southern stars reflect in a mirror calm Dove Lake, whilst a faint aurora (Southern Lights) appears fleetingly behind Cradle Mountain. This timelapse sequence was created by John Goldsmith and entered in the Astrophotography Competition at Astofest 2014, in Perth, Western Australia (icrar.org/astrofest). It was awarded the prize for 'Best Timelapse' by judges Dr David Malin, Professor Peter Quinn and Professor Andreas Wicenec.
