As part of our series, The Ninth Month, we're looking at when women give birth for the first time. This data from the United Nations illustrates the average age at which women in developing countries have their first child. Women give birth at the youngest age in Niger and Chad, in Africa, and Bangladesh, in South Asia. Women in Sri Lanka and Morocco give birth at the oldest age. A different study pegs the US age at 25.8.
