Early this morning a woman wakes up to a man in her room trying to kiss her. San Diego Police Lt. Paul Phillips says that SDPD was already in the area responding to a separate prowler call when the victim called 911 about the man in her room. Police say that when the victim woke up the suspect ran off and that no property was taken. Officials do believe the two incidents have the same suspect. The suspect is described as a Hispanic or Filipino male, early 20's, short haircut and a little bit of facial growth with a thin mustache,
This morning at 9:00 the San Diego City Council Economic Development and Intergovernmental Relations Committee is meeting. And on the docket is the San Diego Convention Center Corporation's report that says fourteen trade shows may pass San Diego by, taking millions of dollars with them. The report says that New York Life Insurance Company sees San Diego as too expensive. The education group Advancement Via Individual Determination or AVID Center say their conventioneers cannot afford San Diego's hotel rates. Other groups are making the same claims about staying in San Diego being expensive along with worries over the completion of the Convention Center expansion.
One group that wasn't deterred from having their convention in San Diego is the International Health, Racquet and Sports Club Association. They start their 33rd annual convention and trade show this morning at 7:00.
Then at 2:00 this afternoon San Diego City Council’s Smart Growth and Land Use Committee is meeting about a report about transferring properties from the now defunded redevelopment agencies back to the city. Acquiring 114 acres on Volcan Mountain is what the San Diego County Board of Supervisors' is talking about this morning at 9:00
At 10:45 AM Civic San Diego Board of Directors is getting together to talk about how to choses a new president.
At noon Councilman Todd Gloria is meeting with a group that wants to raise the minimum wage for San Diego. They'll be outside at Civic Center Plaza.
In El Cajon's courthouse there are two Arraignments worth mentioning both set for 1:30 PM. First …73-year-old Leland Clyde's arraignment for allegedly shooting a fellow camper at an R.V. park in Alpine. Then Adrian Atondo is accused of driving drugged, leading deputies on a chase, then crashing into several parked cars.
Big data and what that means for San Diego is the subject of a panel talk at U.C. San Diego's Qualcomm Institute.
And finally at 6:00 tonight the World Resource Sim Center is workshoping ways to make San Diego 100 percent clean and 100 percent run on renewable energy.
