Merle Astley speaks about how she was widowed through alcoholism at 32. She was left with 3 young daughters to bring up. Merle wasn't a Christian at this time of her life and thought she was destined for a life of heartache and loneliness, trying to answer so many "Why's" over life and death. At one time Merle even contemplated taking her own life as she she couldn't see any way out of her predicament. Merle was given a Biblical Tract which she at first dismissed but later found it and read it, this led her to seek Jesus and become born again, which turned her world upside down. Merle started to attend church and within a short time came into church leadership. Merle was called into the ministry and spent the next 25 years ministering to alcoholics and their families, seeing many finding Christ. Today Merle is part of a growing young Church in Latchford, Warrington, sharing Jesus with those with additions, the vulnerable and the unloved in the community. This is a story of an ordinary woman who had an extraordinary experience and testifies to the reality of God, and the faithfulness of God working in our lives when we allow Him to.
