We love the story of how Joseph and Bow fell in love. Bow is from Thailand but does a lot of traveling for her job with a global relief agency. When Joseph was traveling through Thailand Bow was home and a mutual friend introduced the two. There was an instant connection. At first they played it shy, both snapping a photo of each other secretly, not knowing the other had done the same. But within a week of hanging out, they decided to tell each other how they felt. Joseph ended up extending his vacation in Thailand so he could spend more time with Bow traveling her home country. Even after Joseph went back to Brooklyn, their relationship and love for each other continued to flourish.
Joseph + Bow had their Thailand destination wedding in Chanthaburi, Thailand. A beautiful beach town near the Cambodian border. As part of a traditional Thai ceremony Joseph had to find his bride by going through a series of “gates”. These gates are made of Bow’s friends and family, usually young, holding a rope. It’s a light hearted and fun tradition where Joseph had to barter his way through the gates by doing any dances, songs, requests, or giving them payment to pass through the gate. His friends had to support him by participating in the requests of Bow’s friends and family by doing the Macarena. He eventually found his way to his beautiful bride who was eagerly waiting alone for him.
After the morning Thai ceremony they had a traditional western ceremony on the lawn alongside the beach. This Thailand destination wedding was a magical event for both of their families on that beautiful beach. The reception was a blast as both families came together to dance so hard they actually broke the floor. All in good fun! As the evening winded down, everyone made their way to the beach to release lanterns into the night sky. It was a beautiful way to close out the night and celebrate the love between Joseph + Bow.
