As a Ford brand initiative for Halloween, Team Detroit reached out to ModOp in order to produce a high profile Yahoo Homepage Takeover experience. Film and CG were merged together to make the Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 model “come to life”, playing off the legendary scene from the movie Frankenstein which popped up on user’s screens upon accessing Yahoo.com
The video then shrank down to 2 Flash banners (300×250 & 970×60) with a “Customize Now” CTA. Upon click, A CG animated Ford Mustang drove off the banner, performed a 360 Burnout to end closer to the user’s perspective before expanding to a Car Customizer and Monsterizer UGC, both built in Flash. This allowed users to customize the Ford Mustang car (colors, wheels, decals, side skirts) and either download their model or proceed to the Ford website to unlock more customizable parts.
The Monsterizer UGC allowed users to upload a picture of themselves, modify the colors and add monster parts such as nails, cat eyes, bandages, scars, a spider and other spooky options. They could then download their “Monster” pic to their Desktop and use it as a Facebook profile image.
