Amsterdam residents Bobbie Maass, Chris Stack, Sam Sokolov and Edith Van Raalte are guided in watercolor technique by art instructor Eileen Neville. Residents can also take advantage of open studio time during the week to work on individual projects, or choose from a constantly changing menu of art processes.
These Open Art sessions, along with a weekly Creativity Workshop, invite residents to explore expressive art making and craft projects, and to collaborate in making murals on canvas. The sessions are facilitated by The Amsterdam’s Community Program Manager, Tracy A. Warzer, a licensed Art Therapist, who is assisted by a Graduate Art Therapy intern from Long Island University. Lately, residents have been creating mixed media collage, decoupage luminaries, pen and link paintings, monoprints, Zen sand gardens, Mandala drawings, wearable art and decorative masks.
