Songs for the Cure '10 is the 3rd compilation by the Indie Music Cancer Drive, an organization that coordinates the efforts and talents of performers and composers from across the world in order to raise money to fight cancer and give support to victims and their families. All of the music for each album is composed specifically or exclusively appears on its compilation, with the primary goal of raising money for the cause.
Our goal is to raise $10,000 by April 24th, 2010 - an incredible goal that we hope to realize with help from sponsors and supporters such as yourself. We are currently accepting donations for CDs until March 1st, after which we will distribute the CD through other means - all the while forwarding 100% of the profits to the American Cancer Society.
This year, over TWENTY-EIGHT (28) artists have signed on and are contributing their music to the cause. These artists do this free of charge as a one-of-a-kind donation for the event. All of the music they contribute is exclusive and unreleased, and in most cases was composed specifically for our fundraiser. The music spans SEVERAL genres, so there is something for everyone. You can expect Pop, Jazz, Instrumental, Orchestral, Fusion, Alternative, Rock, Chiptunes, Musique Concrète, and even video-game-arrangements. We take pride in every piece on the album and are confident that every donor will enjoy the gift.
The Indie Music Cancer Drive was created in 2008 by composer Josh Whelchel and has raised over $6,000 for the American Cancer Society. The drive exists as a fundraising effort under the Relay for Life event held specifically at the University of Cincinnati. The University of Cincinnati is home to the College Conservatory of Music, where a handful of artists on the 2009 and 2010 compilations currently study.
