A film by James Blake and Joey Bania
For nearly twenty years, Martin Hill fashioned art using materials found on mountains, valleys, rivers and lakes. Together with his partner Philippa Jones, they travel extensively through New Zealand and around the world, crafting ephemeral yet fleeting sculptures from materials sourced on site.
In 2011, Hill set about creating a series of works for his first ever solo exhibition. A Delicate Canvas recounts his journey painting a portrait of a man, his art and the fragile medium he works within.
