David Mee-Lee, MD will discuss two new publications in 2013 that impact addiction and mental health clinicians and treatment programs: DSM-5 from the American Psychiatric Association and The ASAM Criteria, a new revision published in October 2013 by the American Society of Addiction Medicine.
The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (DSM) for the Treatment of Mental Disorders of the American Psychiatric Association are the most widely used diagnostic criteria. The ASAM Criteria are the most widely used and comprehensive set of guidelines for assessment, service planning, placement, and continued stay and transfer/discharge of people with addictive disorders. This two-part webinar will highlight what is new in DSM-5 and The ASAM Criteria since the last published editions.
The webinar will focus on the implications for diagnosis, assessment, treatment and documentation in an era of healthcare reform.
