The (Es)sense project aims for an object, with which a user can engage in a reciprocal perceptual interplay.
This means that user and object perceive each other, provoke each other and react on each other. Picolm allows a musician to experience such interplay by making music (on the right a previous iteration of Picolm is shown). It is an object that explores its surroundings for interesting sounds. Through its behavior and perceptive activities, Picolm shows how it feels about what it perceives. It is focused on the interaction between Picolm and the musician and the way in which both of them can lead or follow the perceptual interplay of sounds and movements.
