The Crush City Entertainers become the 11th Triple Double Basketball Champions Sunday at Target Center when the defeated The Unit 69-51. The game was played in front of a Triple Double record crowd. Close to 200 guests were on hand at Target Center just to see the TD Championship Game and hundreds more were in attendance because they were waiting for an event or because they stayed after one.
Crush City never trailed in the game. General Coppage hit a three in the corner to give the Entertainers a 3-0 and they never looked back. Crush City shot 12 of 26 from three, while The Unit connected on just 6 of 21 from downtown. Five of the seven active Crush City players Sunday hit multiple three-point shots: Coppage, 2; Alex McLean, 2; Thor Owen, 2; Dan Andersen, 3; and Grant Hargett, 3. Crush City also won the battle of the boards, 38-29.
The Entertainers were led by Hargett, who had a team-high 20 points, and Carl Hipp, who had 14 points and 16 rebounds. Andersen finished with 11 points, Coppage had 10 and McLean had eight.
The Unit point guard DeAndre Townsend led all scorers with 27 points in the losing effort. Omar Knighten was the next leading scorer for The Unit with seven points. He also recored five boards and three steals.
