Our son Hector made it back from Afghanistan in the Spring of 2007. One year of dodging bullets, RPG's, IED's and mortar fire. His photos from that deployment and my photos of their return to America.
They arrived in the early morning hours to Pope Air Base to a waiting crowd of parents, spouses, children, and friends.
Their mission was to build a road through the very hostile Paktika Provence. Previous commands had made little progress but the 37th Engineers from Ft. Bragg, North Carolina showed the work could get done.
God bless all our soldiers.
