In this video press release, Assembly Majority Leader Louis D. Greenwald (D-Camden) discusses his legislation to reduce the maximum capacity of ammunition magazines in New Jersey from 15 rounds to 10 rounds.
Under current state law, magazines capable of holding a maximum of 15 rounds of ammunition are legal. Greenwald’s bill (A-2006) would reduce the lawful maximum capacity of ammunition magazines to 10 rounds. The limit proposed in the bill would bring New Jersey’s laws in line with magazine limits contained in the original 1994 federal assault weapons ban.
The bill, which Greenwald has long pushed for, is part of the larger Assembly Democratic gun violence prevention effort.
It passed the General Assembly in March by a vote of 46-31.
