Holi is the Hindu Festival marking the coming of Spring, light and hope. No matter where in the world this is held, sheer exuberance is palpable as people are totally covered in bright colors while dancing the day away!
As night falls, a bonfire called Holika is built to cleanse the air of evil spirits, celebrating the victory of good over evil. People make offerings to the gods of coconuts which are considered the perfect food since it contains the juice, meat and bowl along with puffed rice and rose petals. Multi-colored faces, music, dancing and moments of thanks...I can't think of a nicer way to celebrate the coming of spring.
