Charleston’s tech community is on a roll, with four software companies just named to the 2013 Inc. 500 Fastest Growing Companies list. At the March Fridays @ the Corridor, one winner, BoomTown’s Founder and CEO, Grier Allen, provided insights into the rewards and challenges of building a fast growing company. Coffee Kind principal and FS2 resident, Sam Mylrea, talked about the launch of his new company and challenges of getting started.
Grier Allen founded BoomTown in the summer of 2005 with merely 3 employees. Today BoomTown employs 110 employees and plans on hiring 50 more this upcoming year. BoomTown is a company driven by creating a more consumer focused real estate industry. They do this by connecting home buyers and sellers with knowledgeable, forward thinking real estate professionals in the U.S. and Canada. In addition BoomTown builds software products that help real estate professionals provide a better experience for their prospects and customers.
Sam Mylrea founded Coffee Kind in 2012 as a one-person team. Coffee Kind is the leading marketplace for specialty coffee and related equipment. They are focused on building a vibrant community and a destination website for gourmet coffee news, blogging, reviews and how-to guides.
