Starting at the age of five, many in this class of Jaguars have spent the last six years together. At the point of taking flight and heading on to middle school, Joyner Elementary takes the entire fifth grade class to Washington, DC for three days, visiting over a dozen sites. It's one of those big moment memories that people tend to keep with them for life. One teacher, Stacy Arch, said as she quizzed students about sites on the bus, "The day I stop learning something everyday is the day I am dead." And she and Natalie Smith and Cecilie Lewis and Nicole Melendez--and all the teachers these students have had in the preceding years at Joyner, have kept these students alive and well-fed with knowledge and wisdom and experiences. Thank you, Joyner. You've set our kids on a wonderful path. With love, Liisa (Livia Colvin's mom)
PS For those on the trip, you'll understand the brief act towards the end featuring Dad/Chaperone Richard and the text messages he received from all the mothers after sleeping in well after the buses were to depart on the last day.
