This is one of many 'urbexing' projects I have engaged in with Richard Gosling over the last ten years. He seems to have vanished into the ether again (as seems to be the case in this Laurentian Nottinghamshire environment), so I have taken it upon myself to finish the video off, so you can all learn about our hidden heritage and see some beauty in the abandoned (soon to be a country park?) countryside. In this case it's the derelict Mapperley Tunnel, in Gedling, which has found itself the site for some rogue landfill idiots - although this does present a very "Alien"esque monument to human waste. Richard has done his research very well and makes a great presentation, and I've finally managed to sort out some of the sound issues - though not all; even mic mufflers couldn't stop the wind getting through at a couple of points. Check out his Liminal Perspectives Vimeo page for a couple more shorts, and at some point I hope he'll record a historical narrative for our first video exploration in 2005, with the River Leen - lost somewhere on MySpace.
