RAP AWAY RACISM
by MRH Elementary School's Trenton, Damien, Johnny and Malik
Ms. Caffey brought her class to see a screening of "Jim Crow to Barack Obama" (JC2BO) at The Center of Contemporary Arts (COCA) during the St Louis International Film Festival in November 2013.
She later gave an assignment to her class to make a documentary that addresses a problem in our communities and present a solution to that problem.
Inspired by seeing "JC2BO", one group chose ‘racism and the new Jim Crow’ as their topic. Trenton, Damien, Johnny and Malik wrote and performed "Rap Away Racism" at the Educating for Change – Curriculum Conference.
Great job guys!
