I am often surprised at the ways in which people can seem so different, but still share so many human experiences and emotions.
This little video promises to reveal some of the ways that people are similar - the places where we meet each other, find similarities and shared experiences or sentiments.
Imagine if we could do this all around the world? Would we be so different?
This video was filmed by Rhonda Mc Donell, she also conducted the interviews. With a bit of help from me, Rhonda set up an interview booth at the Sustainability Festival in Warrnambool. The aim was to ask a bunch of different people some of life's big questions, for ABC Open's new national video project of the same name.
We set up shop in the foyer of the Warrnambool Art Gallery, which you can see in the background. Rhonda manned the camera while I would wander out into the crowd and coerce sustainable people into revealing something about themselves.
Neither myself or Rhonda had chosen the questions and we were both a bit nervous about how people would respond, as some of them were pretty personal;
What's your most annoying trait?
What do you do when you feel sad?
What advice would you give your 16 yr old self?
But geez, we shouldn't have worried. These folk could handle it and then some.
I decided to just edit together answers to two of the questions we asked, so here you will get some excellent advice to 16 year-old selves, and some pointers for what to do when you feel sad.
