Another year in Lockhart and the streets certainly came alive.
Watching the tracks construction on Friday night is always extremely entertaining. So much change and team work happens into the late hours. The dedication of the LSGP crew is second to none with the guys and girls up till almost 4 am only to be back at the track at around 6 am to get everything started
The first day was one of feeling out the track. With new paved sections of the street course everyone needed some time to come up to speed with the changes. Subtle differences to the eye are massive changes in the seat of the kart. Drivers testing the limits brought out a few yellows that slowed the pace of the day running late into the evening. The last race was right on the cusp of night but everyone rounded out the evening safely.
Day two was a whole different animal. Early morning sessions were misty and warm. As opening ceremonies started a ferocious cold front blew through to immediately drop the temp 15 degrees in a matter of seconds. The cold brought with it heavy rain as well, but the majority of the field was prepared and nearly everyone lined up. The temps continued to drop as the races went on, reaching a nearly icy 35 degrees by the end of the last race.
And so we had another year in the books. Cant tell the LSGP team what a great event they put on and a huge thanks to the Town of Lockhart for embracing this
