Unmovie Stand-In installation 2003
Timothy Druckrey curated Philip Pocock w. Gregor Stehle and Øthers into his "Critical Conditions: Information Atmospheres and Event Scenes" at the media art space Wood Street Gallery Pittsburgh 2003.
Philip Pocock did not travel to at-war USA, but sent a red Samsonite suitcase filled with just-under-flight-weight-kilos of various metal music and musical instruments stands w. some shiny shiny foils for reflection and the hope that as few cables touch the floor as possible and that the environment resemble a kind of 'stand-in' event/scoring space. The added touch was that the main screen of Unmovie was beamed on the entrance to the space, and a second projection diverted partially or 'flagged' by shiny foil so the surfaces of the room allotted lit up musically, chromatically. Peter Scupelli also helped on the installation. Peter, an architect, had worked with Philip on the ZKM 'humbot' installation in 1999, subsequently changing profession and studying as a post-graduate at Carnegie Mellon in the area of information interfacing. Other persons in the show were: Wolgang Stehle, R. Lorenzo-Hemmer. Catalogues in available.
