Late in 2013, Vexta headed to Mexico as part of her ongoing, global Neon Tour adventure. Her original travels there in 2012 had left her with the desire to return to paint a piece she felt belonged in the centre of the creative neighborhood of Condesa / Roma in Mexico City. Responding to the relation of death within Mexican culture, the four story street piece depicts a winged woman rising from the skull of the past and celebrates the power of the feminine as it ascends into the future.
This glimpse into Vexta's creative process captures not only some of her techniques but also a brief look into the millions of distinctly Mexican moments happening around her as she paints. Which aims to draw attention to the interconnectedness of street art to the city.
