No matter how good the people sitting around you look, almost everyone you see is struggling with some difficult, if not overwhelming situation. It's what it means to be a human being, which brings us back to the "we know," that begins this profound paragraph. With these words, Paul is saying one of two things. Either the "we know" means that what follows is common knowledge, or the "we know" is rhetorical meaning, "We ought to know."
