On April 15, 2013 the world was in shock as a celebration of ability and life turned to a scene of horror. For the past 20 years, the Challenged Athletes Foundation has provided hope and support when the unexpected happens. Just 6 weeks after the tragic bombings at the Boston Marathon, many of those injured found hope at CAF's "Celebration of Heroes, Heart and Hope" gala in New York City. At this event funds were raised in a promise that these individuals will always have the support they need to remain active and healthy. Now, almost a year later, many of these survivors have received grants for running legs from CAF, attended CAF Össur Amputee Running Clinics and discovered new friends and mentors. It is thanks to our supporters that these Boston Heroes are getting stronger... and now many are heading to the 2014 Boston Marathon finish line and beyond.
