This is the story of Oscar Portillo's journey from a village in El Salvador to a suburb of Washington, D.C. Oscar was born in the United States but moved back with his family to El Salvador where he grew up. At 15, he left El Salvador to pursue an education in the United States. This is his story, in his own words.
