Leading up to the 2010 World Expo in Shanghai lots of change is happening in the city. Old buildings are being torn down, new buildings erected, buildings repainted, trees planted, pavements torn up, pavements repaved.
As I walked to the (newly built) Line 7 Metro stop next to my apartment today, I saw these machines tearing up an old apartment block that only a few weeks ago was occupied. I was mesmerized, much like the other locals checking out this scene. This clip pretty much explains why there is so much dust around Shanghai (and in my lungs)!
My district is becoming unrecognizable from what it was 1 year ago.
