A Rowley Way Story is a short dance film made by the adult group that participated in the Dance in Film workshops. The workshop happened during the autumn term at Alexandra and Ainsworth Estate, London. It is a project that was lead by artist & filmmaker Jana Koelmel and freelance dancer, and co-founder of The People Pile, Lauren Bridle.
In the week long, hands on workshops, the participants were given an insight into the world of dance, filmmaking and storytelling. The two groups, a kids and teens group, with 20 kids, and a group of 6 adults each created their own short dance film.
This workshop aims to enhance communication and create a stronger community by giving the participants the chance to work together with a team of neighbours on a creation. It wants to give children and adults from a non-arts background the opportunity to engage with the arts personally, in this fun, creative and open way.
The workshops were supported by the Durham Wharf Foundation, ReachOut RCA, and the TRA Alexandra and Ainsworth Estate, and The People Pile.
