Walkie Mirãna is a board member of the Concerned Artists of the Philippines since 2011. As a cultural activist she actively promotes people’s art and the advancement of a nationalist, democratic and people oriented culture in the Philippines. She has been a cultural worker since 1990’s, first as an indigenous peoples rights advocate. During that time she performed progressive songs as a member of the progressive chorale group Patatag. Since then she has been active in the people’s movement’s cultural work, including writing and directing programs for mass mobilizations and performing with the progressive choir, People’s Chorale, which she currently directs.
