The Alpine Club of Zakopane is the smallest of all Polish alpine clubs but among its members are the most outstanding mountain personalities in the country. Many of the expeditions organized by the Club turned into acclaimed international successes, the climbers from Zakopane consisted the backbone of numerous other high mountain ventures. The Club takes its greatest pride in the first ascent of Makalu and the first winter climb of Cho Oyu. "Zakopanians" movie brings into focus these unique people rooted into mountains by their homes, their jobs and passions. The vast majority of participants of the Club’s expeditions were Tatra rescuers and mountain guides, people bound by friendships and camaraderie upon which their immense mountain victories were based.
