This feature length documentary embedded cameras with Military Working Dogs and their handlers on the front lines in Afghanistan and documented how the natural bond between a boy and his dog can be magnified by the insanity of combat. The film is the first of its kind to capture this powerful relationship. Permission to film in the active war zone required more than a year of discussions among producers and four branches of the US Military. Upon gaining access, camera teams filming the stories told in GLORY HOUNDS acquired specialized training before spending 9 weeks in the most hostile regions of Afghanistan. In GLORY HOUNDS, as in war, some dogs and handlers come home, some return forever changed, and some don’t come home at all.
The film premiered in 2013 on Animal Planet and aired again on Sept. 10th to help commemorate the anniversary of 9/11.
