Since 1973, Van Ness Recovery House has provided residential treatment for alcohol and drug addiction in Los Angeles to the LGBT and heterosexual communities. The four-to-six-month program aims to provide residents with a solid foundation for recovery. Many of the residents are HIV-infected, homeless when they enter the program, and/or have other mental health issues. Longtime Executive Director Kathy Watt talks about the house and its residents and programs; plus we speak to current and former residents, including Chris Johnson, Allan Orosco, Anna Mejia, Nico Lee, and Jude Calamari.
